Tell us about who you are?
We are the Daugherty family. We are excited about the opportunity to plant a new church in Auburndale, FL. Patrick met his wife Libby at Valdosta state in 2007. Libby has her Master of Social Work (MSW) and currently works as an adoption worker for Lifeline Children Services. They are blessed with two beautiful kids, Madelyn (10) and Oliver (8).
Patrick was born in St. Augustine, FL but spent much of his childhood in Valdosta, GA. Patrick came to faith while at Valdosta State in 2003 through a ministry called Campus Outreach. This was the beginning of a growing passion for the Lord. He became very involved in Campus Outreach going on three summer leadership projects and a cross-cultural project to Thailand. After graduation, Patrick moved to Augusta, GA into the inner city for the purpose of evangelism and outreach. While ministering and serving the inner city through his church, Patrick perceived a call from the Lord to full-time ministry. This led him to serve as a pastoral intern at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta, GA while also pursuing a Master of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary.
The Lord saw fit to bring Patrick and his family to Bartow, FL in 2020 where he served as the Director of Youth and Family Ministries from 2020-2024. Throughout this time, God continued to grow a passion in the Daugherty’s for evangelism and the planting of new churches. In October of 2023, Patrick was assessed and strongly encouraged to pursue church planting by Florida Presbytery. He was later ordained and installed as the Associate Pastor of Church Planting in March of 2024 at Bartow.
Describe your plans for leading a new daughter church?
We moved our family to Auburndale, FL in late April to begin the work of planting a new church. There are currently several initiates I am working on as it relates to leading a new daughter church.
- Core Team Building: We meet each week during the Sunday School hour at Bartow ARP. This class is all about growing together in our understanding of the gospel, church, and mission, and uniting our church planting team around a shared vision. This is an exciting step toward planting Sojourner Church!
- Networking: Connecting with people in Auburndale through others.
- Community Outings: Connecting with people at local parks, restaurants, and community events.
Prayer requests for the coming season?
- Pray to the Lord of the harvest to raise up laborers.
- Pray for wisdom and organization of ministry teams. These teams will help us carry our vision and mission together in Auburndale.
- Pray for a location to meet in Auburndale.
- Pray for our outreach efforts. We want to be faithful.
