Micah 6:8 says, “He has shown you, O mortal what is good. And what does the Lord require of
you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Although at first read
that verse seems simple enough, the Christian walk is not always that easy. A lot of times it is
challenging and difficult, but God has a purpose in all things. Last August, the beginning of my
senior year, I began to lose my peripheral vision and had a constant, terrible headache. Within
the course of two months, I had a lot of blood work done, multiple MRI’s, two spinal taps, and to
top it all off I had a broken rib. Absolutely no doctor could figure out what was going on to cause
all of these problems. During this time, my faith was tested tremendously. Towards the end of
my sickness, things got even worse; due to my headaches, I had to lie still all of the time and
was not able to walk around. It was extremely hard to trust God when all of my doctors were
saying that they had no idea what was going on and no medicine was helping.

As I lay motionless, I thought about my plans to go to Haiti in February. And it was in that
moment that God proved his faithfulness to me. I had no doubt that I was going to be able to go
back to Haiti – my most favorite place in the whole world – but I had absolutely no clue how
everything was going to work out. BUT GOD, being amazing, had big plans. A couple weeks
later, I was in my kitchen, and I felt and heard a buzzing noise in my eyes. Even though it is
hard to understand, that was a time that I felt the healing power of our God. All that I could not
see was coming back. Within thirty minutes, I could see perfectly fine, and today I have no
problems whatsoever. A couple of months after this incident, I was in Haiti with the people I love
the most, worshipping and fellowshipping with them. I may not know the complete purpose of
my suffering, but now I am able to share my story and how faithful God was and is to me with
others in the United States and even in other countries like Haiti. He is faithful!
