Why is March Multi-Cultural Month?

Phil Williams, Synod Moderator

When we consider that we are elected to serve the God of Wonder, Light and of all humanity, and that we are specifically instructed to make disciples of all nations, we all must be obedient. This year, I will join the efforts of Outreach North America and name March as Multi-cultural Emphasis Month. Many of our leaders will be sharing devotions and exhortations throughout the month to help our denomination turn our focus toward prayer for our friends from other cultures. May we all seek God’s will and strive to make an impact in our efforts to proclaim His excellencies to the world as we reach out to people who live in danger, fear, and hopelessness awaiting the good Samaritan’s heart to come along and minister His Love.

“Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31 ESV)
